Managing Editor at QLIQE

We are looking for a smart, creative and passionate Managing Editor to oversee our company’s publishing operations. You will report directly to the Editor in Chief and Management team, as well as the Advisory Board to determine appropriate material and publishing path. You will interact with and supervise contributors, including but not limited to artists, writers, performers and editors.

We are looking for a candidate who is committed to maintaining overall aesthetic, creative direction and tonal integrity throughout the editorial process, in addition to excellent organizational and communication skills. Resourcefulness, out-of-the-box thinking within structure, and original ideas are encouraged. We are looking for a Managing Editor who will help grow and develop this start-up with contributions and synergistic collaboration.

Responsibilities 

  • Recruit and hire, then regularly coach and supervise freelance contributing artists

  • Oversee pitch/approval process for new content with follow-through from start to finish

  • Maintain QLIQE aesthetic and voice across all publications

  • Collaborate with Editor in Chief and Advisory Board to determine content and topics

  • Coordinate publication schedule with web designer

  • Control schedules and enforce deadlines for contributors, graphic designers, editors

  • Oversee proofreading procedures and edit or rewrite copy when necessary

  • Manage Editorial Assistant, which can include editing, rewriting and research tasks

  • Participate in social media strategy, including monetization and growth; specific roles and duties to be determined based on experience

  • Resolve issues as they arise

Requirements

  • Proven experience as managing editor and/or applicable and relatable relevant role

  • Exceptional ability in copywriting and editing

  • Self-motivated, resourceful and innovative thinker who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills; reliable and efficient

  • Outstanding communication and people abilities

  • Flexibility with work hours, open to working on weekends

  • Flexibility with responsibilities as this role grows and develops

  • Degree in journalism, creative writing or relevant field preferred

  • Working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO concepts preferred, in addition to project management platforms like Monday.com, Asana or Trello
